Since 1994, Dr. Ole has operated multiple mixed animal and exotic practices, originating from his flagship location, White Mountain Animal Hospital. As the owner and chief of staff of the hospital, he treats any and every animal that comes in the door; whether wild or domestic.
Dr. Ole’s practice has overseen several zoological operations, including Arizona’s popular wildlife park, Bearizona, devoted to providing homes for wild animals in need. He has provided training to the Bearizona Wildlife Park Animal Care staff to assist him with field procedures that minimize stress and discomfort that may be associated with veterinary care. Most recently, he has partnered with the staff to train the animals for voluntary examinations and injections. This includes the care of many species of
North American wildlife, including grizzly bears, deer, bobcats, jaguars and all the other animals who live in the park. This progressive and fascinating
program stems from his extensive experience in a multitude of zoos, including the Denver Zoo, The Arizona Sonoran Desert Museum, The Phoenix Zoo, and R Lazy J Wildlife Ranch.
Dr. Ole has also provided clinical and consultation services for both private and public collection of animals and serves as a consulting veterinarian for
various departments including the Arizona Game and Fish, the White Mountain Apache Game and Fish, the New Mexico Game and Fish, and the
U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. He is the lead veterinarian for the Mexican Gray Wolf Recovery Project, the Sonoran Pronghorn Recovery Project and multiple game and non-game species studies. He also serves as adjunct faculty at Texas Tech University and Northland Pioneer College. As a
published author, his name is well known among the wildlife conservation community. He is an internationally renowned instructor in chemical and
physical capture of wildlife species.
When Dr. Ole isn’t recovering endangered species in the deserts and mountains, he enjoys going to his house south of the Mexican border to dive, fish, or just enjoy drinking a margarita on the beach. He is the proud father of two sons.
Dr. Ole's favorite is actually Bourbon and Mexican Beer!
He has been and needed a hip replacement; his hip joint and head of his femur are in a jar of formaldehyde in the office (which he shows off proudly).
Yep, loathes the fungi!
Otters top Dr. Ole's favorite animal list!
It's actually New Mexico!
He taught it in college! (Still loves dancing and is pretty good at it!)
